jsbu32x32 Adding/Changing Project Components

Top  Previous  Next

Once the main project parameters are set up, then it is time to add some components to the project.

What are Components?

The components are the files that you would like to be backed up with this project. You can have as many components in a project as you want.  Each component represents either files to include, or files to exclude via the Exclude all files with this mask check box. If you want to maintain the structure of your subdirectories, then check the Recurse Subdirectories check box. When this check box. is checked, all of the subdirectories under "Path" are searched in for files matching the extensions, or, mask. The Mask is used to specify which files are actually saved in the backup. You can use valid wild cards when specifying which files get saved.

Adding/Changing a Component Window

Both the Adding a Component window and the Changing a Component window are identical in all respects. They consist of the following components, Path, Mask, Exclude all files with this mask, and Recurse Subdirectories.

To get to the Adding a Project Component window click on the Insert or Copy button (depending on your need) or press the Insert key on the keyboard from the Changing a Project window.

To get to the Changing a Project Component window click on the Change button on the Changing a Project window.

Path

In the Path field, type in the location of the files that you wish to back up. You can also click on the Browse button (...) to locate the path. The Pick a Path window will appear and you can choose the drive and directory where the files are located. The directory entered must be a valid existing directory name.

Mask

In the Mask field you have two choices:

1.Click on the Browse button (...) This will bring up the Mask Builder window. Click on the Masks (or, file extensions) that you wish InBack to include in your back up. You can hold the Control (Ctrl) key down and click with your mouse to chose as many as you would like.

Note: If you are saving more than one file type, just separate the masks with a comma (*.doc, *.txt).

2.Click on the Arrow Down button. This will bring up the Mask Themes window. Using the mouse (or Control + the mouse) you can choose a Mask Theme that you have already set up, then press the Select button to add this extension scheme to your backup project.

From the Mask Themes window you can choose to Insert, Change, or Delete a Mask Theme.

Exclude all files with this mask

Once you have chosen a Mask, or a Mask Theme, these will be the file extensions that InBack uses as guidelines for the back up. However, if you want InBack to back up every file except those with these extensions, click on the Exclude all files with this mask check box.

Recurse Subdirectories

If you wish to have your files backed up just as they already occur on your drive, click on the Recurse subdirectories check box. This will preserve the file structure as InBack finds it at the time of the first backup.

Once you have responded to all of the fields on the Adding a Project Component window, click OK to return to the Adding a Project window.
